The Premier
December 1, 2021
On December 1, 2021, the Chicago Department of Public Health hosted the first official screening of the Crystal CLEAR Chicago DocuArticle at Malcolm X College. Though she was unable to appear in person, Mayor Lori Lightfoot provided opening remarks via video, acknowledging the importance of addressing the rise of methamphetamine use among Black gay and bisexual men in Chicago and setting the tone for the evening. After the screening, Dr. Keith Green facilitated a robust Q&A session with a host of community stakeholders as well as research participants who were in the room. Key takeaways from the discussion (including the need to revisit criminalization associated with substance use) will be prioritized by the newly reinstated Chicago Crystal Meth Task Force, spearheaded by Antonio King at the Chicago Department of Public Health.
